Assigning Merits

Assigning merits is quick and simple. Merits can be awarded to a particular pupil, several pupils or every pupil in the group/class.

If you can see the pupil you wish to assign merits to on your dashboard you can click on their name or avatar. In the Quick Award filed you can start to type a pupil’s name and a drop down list will appear and you can click on the pupil you are assigning merits to.

To assign merits to several pupils or the whole group/class you can click on the group name under the heading or click on the Award Merits button on the blue toolbar at the top of the screen and select the group the pupil belongs to.

When you have clicked on your group/class name you will be presented with all the pupils that belong to it. Click on the Bulk Assign Merits button on the blue toolbar.

Now you can select the pupils you wish to assign merits to. Once you have put a tick in the square in the top left          corner of the pupils box you can click on the blue Award Merits button.

If you wish to assign merits to the whole class just put a tick in the Select All box at the top of the group. Every pupil will then have a tick in the square in the top left corner of their box.

Whether assigning merit to one, several or, all pupils the process is exactly the same. You will complete the following screen. If the settings are set so that staff cannot override the merit value you will see a message at the top of the screen telling you so. At the bottom of the screen you will see the names of the pupils you are assigning merits to.

Select a reason from the drop down list.

The Assign Type and Number of Merits are predetermined and you will not need to change them. As already mentioned you can only override the value if the settings allow. In the Comments field you can record why the pupil(s) have earned the merits. This will be displayed in your transaction history and the pupil’s history. It will build up into a comprehensive report that can be reviewed at any time.

Once the screen is completed, click on the blue Award Merits button at the bottom of the screen. You will see the transactions reflected in your budget and the pupil’s merit totals.
